Ok ok I know her name isnt Katie Lou, but for some reason since she was born I have been calling her that, so it will stay!

I had this idea to use old kitchen scales to show the birth weight of newborns and wanted to use this idea with Katie. She is such a precious little thing and so it worked well to show how tiny she was. Thankfully she is so small she fit on my scales!

We took two attempts at this shoot when she was just 2 weeks old. The first one was the wrong time of the day, someone wanted food and cuddles and also the light was fading too quick for us. So the next day on her way into town she popped past my house and we got these gorgeous shots of her in the afternoon light in my kitchen.

She was such a good baby to work with. No messyness on my scales at all!

This wont be the last photo of Katie Lou you see, so stay tuned!

I have to say a big “thank you” to Sarah for letting me photograph her. She was very reluctant to start with, as all pregnant women are well aware of their changing bodies and expanding bellies, it can be a bit daunting to pop in front of the camera in all your glory. But don’t you agree with me, that she looks absolutely beautiful!?

We used a simple black back drop and because it was a brisk day we photographed her in the warmth of inside. The fabric was actually just plain pink and I added another texture in post production, but I don’t think you would even notice if I didn’t tell you!

Stay tuned for the little bubs pics! :

Those big blue eyes just had me snapping away like no tomorrow!

Jack is 3 years old and loves his teddy so I had to get some photos with him, which wasn’t that hard he was inseparable from it! Also when Jack was younger he had some photos done with his teddy so it was nice to continue on that theme and give his parents some pictures years later still with the same teddy.

Oh and just like Amelie he loved the trike, especially with Teddy in the back towing him around the backyard. But I do think his favourite toy was the kite I had made for him. Look at this expression!

I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to photograph this little girl since she was 6 weeks old when she gave us her first smiles. Now she is almost two and is such a character! Wait till I show you some of these photos!

Such a Cheeky little girl!

I spent two days with Amelie down in Sorrento which was lucky because we got such a variety of shots for her mum and dad. When I first arrived she warmed to me immediately and decided to take me by the hand and lead me around her house. This was her doing this. I think she looks like such a grown up young girl in this shot.

Amelie showing me around her house

Then we went to Sorrento beach for the main shoot. The kids were great, loved the toys I had bought for them to play with. The trike was a great hit with them! They proceeded to place their toys in the trolley and tow it around the house, and then we got the flowers out and it was watering time. Including dad’s feet!

It was an overcast day but the sun came out in stages and thankfully it wasn’t too cold for the kids. We played, we laughed, and we got some great shots of the family and little Amelie.

With Colleen I wanted to take in her surroundings, the beautiful rolling hills just outside of Bendigo. The afternoon of the shoot was perfect, the yellow light and the warmth suited us perfectly.

I had all these plans of locations and where to go, and when we walked out her front door it was perfect to find they were already there in her front yard! Thankfully the mower had packed it in and we didnt have to go far at all for these gorgeous shots of her and her belly.

You know its great to be able to photograph people through the years and seeing them go through their stages. I had photographed David before as he was best man for Kelvin, another couple’s wedding I had photographed back in 2007. So it was wonderful to now be able to photograph him on his wedding day.

Kelly & David had one hot day that’s for sure. Above 45 degrees! Thankfully both bride and groom were definately cool, calm and relaxed, and we got some wonderful shots of them in the surrounding bushland around David’s parents house and then on the way to the reception in Daylesford.

Kelly is from Canada and especially wanted photographs depicting the Australian landscape. And the perfect opportunity came out when they walked out of the church and there was this gorgeous windmill and the rolling paddocks filled with cattle.

We had to use a bit of fill flash to combat the extreme sunlight we had, but as the sun went down the heat dropped off and everyone got to relax and take a breath.

This was one of my favourite weddings. I have to say one of the best parts of the day was the pleasure in photographing Amanda & Greg’s little girl Amelie who was 6 months old. She had grown so much since I photographed her last time at just 6 weeks old where we captured her first smiles. She is such a cutie, keep an eye out for her in other blog’s.

I had a few hiccups on the way to the wedding especially driving my old ’67 VW Type 3. The windscreen wipers stopped working and it was pouring rain, so I couldnt hardly see out the windscreen! Thankfully I pulled over right in front of a mechanic! I swear the gods must have been looking after us on that day as we made it to the winery with plenty of time to spare.

The ceremony and reception was held at Stone’s Winery in the Yarra Valley and it was gorgeous. The vines in the background, the old buildings and peace and quiet. I loved the church, the stained glass windows and candlesticks, made for the perfect backdrop.

There was a moment when the pouring rain turned to a slight drizzle, so we jumped out under the umbrellas and got adorable shots of the two of them against the old barn. Then as it started to rain again we found the wine room which was the perfect backdrop for the family photos. The family one is Amanda’s favourite and adorns her house in Sorrento in this old rustic wooden frame, just gorgeous.

Anyway, fabulous wedding and great people made for the most pleasureable wedding yet.

Ah my gorgegous girlfriend Fe. We had scheduled the shoot at her house in Hawthorn and when I arrived there was lighting bolts and grey clouds above so it was literally a race against the weather.

As I quickly put my camera together we got this wonderful shot of her in the front garden as it started to bucket down with rain as she laughed and laughed, the baby kicked with delight.

Fe at 38 weeks.

Then we took up shelter on the verandah and as the storm continued around us, we got these beautiful relaxing shots of her embracing motherhood.
